Monthly Sandbox Topics

Women In Consulting

December 7, 2022 Program Topic: Open Forum for Random Questions

Sometimes you just have a random question and it doesn't fit in anywhere. Maybe it's not presentation-worthy and instead it's conversation-worthy. Bring your random questions, one-off conversation starters, and your curiosity to the Sandbox in December. We'll work through those random questions with whoever is there.

November 2, 2022 Program Topic: Oh my, what to wear?

Business dress codes have changed radically, at least in California, since many of us started our careers. The pandemic has had a huge impact not only on the way we work but also on what we wear. Sales of athleisure clothing went up and many of us wore slippers to online meetings for the past two years. Now that we are going out again, meeting with clients and perhaps even working on site -- what is the post-pandemic dress code? What are you wearing? Where are you shopping? By the way, some colleagues still feel uncertain what the best-dressed options are for virtual meetings.

Join us on Wednesday November 2, 2022 and dive into a topic about what your professional image needs to be in this new work reality.

October 5, 2022 Program Topic: How do you manage those difficult conversations?

A few years ago, while onsite with a client, one of the team members came rushing up to me, red in the face, and basically yelled at me because he felt some of my requests to his team were contradictory. I really was worried this fellow would have a stroke. My internal reaction was an immediate response to the physical threat he seemed to represent. Luckily, I have a more robust communications toolkit.

Each of us has likely faced challenging conversations in life as well as business. Share your experiences and hear from peers on their lessons learned.

See you in the Sandbox!

September 7, 2022 Program Topic: Money, Money, Money!!!

While we are all interested in making and effectively managing our money, some of us are likely more successful from the managing perspective than others. We had an awesome Expert Series event with Denise Grove on August 25. She presented a simple, in concept, approach to managing money called Profit First. What approaches are you using to manage your money, including how you put money aside for those inevitable lean times.

We also all know that managing our money is not just a matter of math. Sometimes we need to be more conscious of our money attitudes and what might be holding us back. Bring your thoughts, questions, challenges and solutions to share.

August 3, 2022 Program Topic: Prioritizing and Getting Things Done!

Do you ever get so involved in a client project that everything else falls by the wayside?

Or, if that doesn't happen to you, how to you keep balance and manage all of the competing priorities in your life?

Don't miss this chance to hear some new tips--and commiserate!

June 1, 2022 Program Topic: Unexpected Tips

We can all read self-improvement blogs, newsletters and books, and hear generally-accepted ideas. But sometimes, the best ideas are where we don't expect to find them. Maybe you have a typical way of doing something, but one day you make a mistake or something else disrupts your process. While you're recovering from that, you realize it's actually a better way to do it. Or maybe you hear some naïve, even silly, advice, and your mind twists it around and you realize there's a gem in there that you can put to good use.

What common things have you you tried, that worked unexpectedly, or surprisingly, well?

What unexpected things have you tried that worked well?

Join us for the June 1, 2022 Sandbox to share tips, hear from and support other women in consulting.

Do you sometimes find that those same clients you love (who pay you well and offer interesting work) can, at times, really stress you out? Let's talk.

March 1, 2022 Program Topic: Why do my hips hurt?

I don't know about you...I haven't update my office furniture even though I am spending a lot more time sitting in a chair attending online events. Recently I noticed my hips are hurting a lot more and I am getting decreasing amounts of exercise. What's the solution?

WIC Member Lara Elfstrand has solved the challenges of both uncomfortable office furniture and lack of exercise. Join us in the March Sandbox to explore her solutions and share your experiences.

Jan 5, 2022 Program Topic: Happy New Year!! What's Next?

Are New Year's Resolutions something you do? In your business? In your life?

What is your vision for 2022? What goals have you set and how do you track your success against these goals? How do you identify, measure, and track your tasks, priorities?

Have you ever discovered and acted on a need to pivot in your business?

Women In Consulting's monthly Sandbox is all about sharing experiences, lessons, tools, tips, and tricks. When better to dive in with your peers than January 5th! Let's explore together and support each other around issues of planning and execution in 2022.
